WAUWATOSA, WI (May 22, 2019) - The Bryant & Stratton College's 2018-19 athletic seasons have officially come to an end and the year was nothing short of exciting.
CHECK OUT THE HIGHLIGHTS BELOW:
Women's Volleyball - The Bobcats posted a 15-11 overall record (14-7 in region) in their inaugural season as well as earned the programs first-ever Region IV playoff appearance. Freshman Andrea Miranda earned NJCAA Region IV All-Region as well as a spot on the District B All-Tournament Team. Miranda finished the season ranked fourth in the region for services aces per set (1.02) and fifth in kills per set at 3.40. Along with Miranda, teammate Evelis Vicenty (Fr.) earned a spot on the NJCAA Region IV All-Region Team after ranking fifth in the region for assists per set (9.42). As a team the Bobcats ranked 60th in the country in kills per set with a 9.80 K/S average and a .221 hitting percentage. Highlight Reel
Men's Golf - The Bryant & Stratton men's golf team competed in seven total tournaments in the fall. Maxwell Rohlinger (So.) earned a resounding individual victory at the Madison College Invitational on September 8 shooting a 73 overall. Rohlinger qualified to the National Tournament for the second straight season.
Men's Soccer - In their inaugural season, the Bobcats finished with an overall record of 3-11-1 (3-11-1 in region). Bryant & Stratton opened up their season with an impressive 6-2 win over Harry S. Truman College and concluded the year with a 3-1 win over McHenry County College in the final game of the season. Freshman Trevor Russel earned NJCAA Region IV All-Region honors as he produced 110 saves in the net throughout the season. Highlight Reel
Women's Soccer - The Bryant & Stratton College women's soccer program finished their inaugural season at 5-6-1 (4-6-1 in region) while earning their first-ever playoff appearance. Ari Duncanson (Fr.) earned NJCAA Region IV First Team All-Region after producing six assists and one goal throughout the season. Teammate Lynette Ocampo (Fr.) earned NJCAA Region IV Second Team All-Region scoring seven goals and five assists on the year. As a team, the Bobcats scored 20 goals in 12 games. Highlight Reel
Men's Basketball - Coming off a 15-15 season in 2017-18, the Bobcats enhanced their record drastically this past season going 25-8 overall (19-3 in region) while advancing to the NJCAA Region IV Championship game. Bryant & Stratton came up short on earning a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament as they suffered a 75-67 loss in the championship game to Morton College. The Bobcats concluded the year ranked 17th in the nation while knocking off #15 Dakota County Technical College (89-80) and #16 Milwaukee Area Technical College (74-65) in the regular season. Justin Brookens (Fr.) and Joe Duty (So.) earned NJCAA Region IV Second Team All-Region honors. Brookens averaged 21.7 points per game on 48% shooting while Duty produced 12.5 ppg on 47% shooting. Women's Basketball - After a 2017-18 NJCAA National Tournament appearance, the Bryant & Stratton women's basketball team advanced to yet another Region IV Championship game in the 2018-19 season but came up short to South Suburban College 71-65. The Bobcats finished the season at 21-11 (13-7 in region) which provided them with the #1 seed in the playoffs for the third straight season. Sophomore Maddy McCoy and Freshman Kiyanna Rodgers earned NJCAA Region IV All-Region honors. McCoy averaged 9.6 ppg and 7.9 rpg while Rodgers averaged 11.4 ppg on 43.2% shooting. A high-powered offense, the Bobcats averaged 77 points per game as a team ranking them #4 in the region in ppg. Highlight Reel
Baseball - The Bryant & Stratton baseball team finished the year with an overall record of 10-25 (8-17 in region) which included a 5-11 home record and 5-14 road record. The team tallied 164 runs on the season. In just year-two of existence, Bryant & Stratton improved their win total from last year by eight while earning tough wins over Rock Valley Community College and #16 McHenry County College.
Softball - The Bryant & Stratton softball team concluded their season at 13-32 overall (4-19 in region) but earned their first-ever NJCAA Region IV playoff appearance as the 8th seed. The #8 seeded Bobcats traveled to #1 Madison College for the opening round of the playoffs and dropped the first two games of the three-game series 8-0 in game one and 14-3 in game two. Ashley Weimann (Fr.) earned NJCAA Region IV First Team All-Region honors after producing six homeruns, 30 RBI's and a .396 batting average on the season. As a team, the Bobcats produced 243 runs and 16 homeruns.
Individual Recognition:
The NJCAA honored nine All-Region athletes for Bobcats in the 2018-19 season which brings the college's grand total to 19 All-Region players in just over three years.
