Bryant & Stratton Women's Volleyball extends their winning streak
The Bryant and Stratton volleyball team opened up the home portion of their schedule in style sweeping Oakton Community College 25-16, 25-22, 25-23 Tuesday night. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 13-7 and extend their winning streak to 6 matches.
After playing their first 19 matches either on the road or at neutral sites, the Bobcats finally were able to play on their home court located at the Center Court Sports Complex in Waukesha.
"The girls were pumped for their first home match of the season," head coach Heather Curley said. "We had a good crowd with lots of friends and family."
The Bobcats were especially impressive in their 25-16 first set win.
"I was very happy with how we played," Curley said. "Everything went our way in game one. Passing was on-point, we had good ball movement with our setters, solid blocking and hitters finished plays."
Things were tighter in the final two sets with the Bobcats prevailing in both by tighter margins.
As a team, the Bobcats have 42 kills over the three sets. Outside Hitter Mackenzie Mainka leads the way with 14 kills while Middle Blocker Ashley Weimann had 11 kills and Right Side hitter Angelie Rivera added 8 kills.
Both setters, Evelis Vicenty and Amanda Vega, had impressive performances. Vicenty finished with 23 assists and Vega had 18. Outside hitter Gabby Lopez led the team in digs with 12.
The Bobcats don't have to wait long for their second home match. They host Madison College on Thursday night. This is a rematch of a September 10th match that was played at Madison and won by the Wolfpack in straight sets. The match will begin at 6:00pm.
