MILWAUKEE, Wis. (June 7, 2017) – Bryant & Stratton College men's basketball is thrilled to announce the signing of Milwaukee native Tyree Ellis. Ellis attended Milwaukee Washington High School where he became a state-wide recognized athlete and led his high school to multiple championships.
The 6'4" guard averaged 18.4 points and 7 rebounds per game his senior season while leading his team to the WIAA State Tournament at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin. He dropped 23 points in a thrilling 73-70 overtime loss to Cedarburg.
Prior to the state tournament, Ellis led Milwaukee Washington to a city conference, regional and sectional championship.
"Tyree is my guy," Bobcats Head men's basketball coach Brian Richert said. "I wanted him immediately once I saw him play this past year."
Ellis averaged 26 points per game in the final six games of his senior season. At the conclusion of the year he was named to the all-city conference and all-area team.
"The first time I saw Tyree play, his natural ability stood out to me and I knew a lot of schools would be after him," Richert said. "But I kept on him and we are lucky to sign him."
More notably, Ellis recorded 25 points and 10 rebounds this past season against Chicago Simeon High School, a national powerhouse team who is consistently named by ESPN as one of the top high school basketball teams in the country.
"Tyree is a Division I level athlete that will excite the crowd with his high-flying dunks," Richert said. "He will be one of the most talented guards in our league from day one."
Ellis is thrilled to be putting on a Bobcat jersey next year and is ready to make an immediate impact.
"Next year I will give it my all," Ellis said. "Coach gave me a welcoming feeling and I am happy to compete close to home."
Richert will continue building his roster but with an incoming talent like Ellis it is safe to say the 2017-2018 season looks extremely promising for the Bobcats.
