MILWAUKEE, Wis. (November 13th, 2017) – The Bryant & Stratton College men's basketball team went on the road to Lacrosse, WI on Saturday and defeated Western Technical College 85-56.
A 29-point win for the Bobcats, marks as their first victory of the season.
"This was a good win for us," Bobcats head coach Brian Richert said. "I thought we came out with a lot of energy and executed on both sides of the floor."
The Bobcats started the first four minutes of the game leading the cavaliers 8-2. After a fast-paced battle throughout the remaining 16 minutes, the Bobcats extended the lead to 44-31 at the end of the half.
"It was very important for us to extend the lead as much as possible before halftime," Richert said. "We knew they would look to make an immediate run."
At the start of the half, the Bobcats added defensive pressure which forced the cavaliers into fourteen turnovers. The turnovers led to easy transition baskets for the Bobcats which allowed them to extend the lead.
Once the lead reached 20 points, there was no turning back for the Bobcats as they went on to capture their first victory of the season.
Brian Bearden (Germantown, WI) led the Bobcats with 21 points and six steals followed by Jarel Triplett (Chicago, IL) with 16 points.
Luka Kristijan (Croatia) added 10 points and Zach Markland (Menomonee Falls, WI) tacked on 11 points off the bench.
Richert and the team will look to build off of this win and put together a win-streak.
The Bobcats will go on the road Tuesday to square off against Black Hawk College-Moline. This will be the first Region IV Division II contest of the season for the team.
Tip-off will take place at 7:00pm and spectators can stream the game live Here
