MILWAUKEE, Wis. (November 15, 2017) – The Bryant & Stratton College men's basketball team went on the road yesterday and took down Black Hawk College-Moline 87-78 in the first Region IV Division II contest of the season for the Bobcats.
This marks as the second win in-a-row for Bryant & Stratton after starting out the year 0-3.
At the start of the first half, Black Hawk College jumped on the Bobcats early as they took an eight point-lead. With much time remaining in the half, the Bobcats fought their way back to trail only 42-40 at the break.
"I thought our effort improved tremendously as the game went on," Bobcats head coach Brian Richert said. "The guys settled in and everything started clicking."
The second half went back-and-forth up until roughly four minutes remaining in the game. After multiple key stops defensively and knocking down a couple clutch three pointers, the Bobcats were able to come home victorious.
"Shots fell at the right time," Richert said. "But it started on the defensive end when we were able to get important rebounds and stops."
Brian Bearden (Germantown, WI) led the Bobcats with 23 points and five steals followed by Lewrenzo Byers (Brown Deer, WI) with 15 points.
Lincoln Wieseman (Lake Geneva, WI) added 12 points and seven rebounds and Zach Markland (Menomonee Falls, WI) tacked on 14 points off the bench.
Richert and the Bobcats currently stand at 2-3 overall and 1-0 in region play.
The next contest for the Bobcats takes place Thursday at Morton College located in Cicero, IL. This will be the second Region IV Division II game for the Bobcats as tip-off will take place at 7:00pm CT.
