MILWAUKEE, WI (January 29, 2018) – The Bryant & Stratton College Bobcats went on the road this past Saturday and defeated Richard J. Daley College 86-82 in a thrilling overtime game.
This marked as a Region IV victory for the Bobcats as the Richard J. Daley Bulldogs compete in NJCAA Region IV Division I. The Bobcats moved to 12-11 overall and 9-6 in region play.
After a week off from competition, the Bobcats were rejuvenated and ready to make their mark on the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs (2-18) had lost four in-a-row prior to Saturday and were prepared to come out victorious as well.
A physical battle from the beginning was going came down to rebounding and getting out in transition. At the end of the half, the Bobcats led 39-30 and seemed to have control over the game.
"We played very well throughout the half," Bobcats head coach Brian Richert said. "We kept them from getting out in transition as much as possible and limited their second chance opportunities."
The second half had the Bulldogs closing the nine-point deficit as they Bobcats struggled to get stops. As time winded down the Bobcats led by three until the Bulldogs finished a tough layup and went to the line for a three-point play to tie the game and put it into overtime.
Throughout overtime both teams struggled executing offensively but eventually the Bobcats extended the lead to a significant margin and went on their way to capturing their 12th win of the season.
Jeffrey Steel (Miami, FL) led the Bobcats with 17 points followed by Lewrenzo Byers (Brown Deer, WI) with 13 points.
Up next for the Bobcats is a match-up against Kishwaukee College on Tuesday where the Bobcats will look to extend their record to 13-11.
