MILWAUKEE, WI (February 5, 2018) – The Bryant & Stratton College men's basketball team traveled up to Ironwood, MI on Saturday where they defeated Gogebic Community College 70-56 in a hard fought battle by both sides. The Bobcats now improve to 13-12 on the season.
At tip-off, the Bobcats were clicking on all cylinders as they were knocking down shots consistently and limiting the Samsons second chance points.
Midway through the half, the Bobcats extended the lead to 10 despite shooting poorly from the free-throw line.
"We were scoring the ball exceptionally well and also keeping them off the offensive glass which helped us gain a big lead." Bobcats head coach Brian Richert said.
At the break, the Bobcats led 40-24.
To start the second half, the Bobcats continued to shoot at a high percentage and control the pace of the game.
"It was good to see us really control the tempo of the game and play our brand of basketball," Richert said. "The guys really bought into the game plan and it showed out their today."
The second half remained fairly even as the Samsons outscored the Bobcats 32-30 but that was not enough to overcome the deficit.
After a tough loss in overtime to Kishwaukee College the previous game, the Bobcats were thrilled to get back in the win column as they will look to put together a win-streak in their four remaining games.
Lincoln Wieseman (Lake Geneva, WI) led the way with 15 points followed by Luka Kristijan (Croatia) with 13 points.
Jeffrey Steel (Miami, FL) added on 12 points and seven rebounds.
Up next for the Bobcats is a home contest against Bosco Institute on Sunday. The Bobcats will be looking to get revenge this time around as they lost 88-69 in last season's matchup.
Tip-off will take place at 2:00pm.
