WAUWATOSA, WI (May 18, 2018) – After signing three recruits just a couple weeks ago, Bryant & Stratton College's men's basketball coach, Matt Majkrzak, has officially signed three additional players in Justin Brookens, Reggie Butler and TJ Schneider. All three Wisconsin natives will be putting on a Bobcat uniform for the 2018-19 season.
Out of Milwaukee Vincent High School, Brookens earned First Team All-Conference after averaging 19 points and six assists per game.
"Justin was a high priority recruit from day one," Majkrzak said. "I've gotten a chance to see Justin play in a lot of big games over his career and he's someone I trust to take and make big shots. Defensively he has the potential to be one of the best defenders in the entire region."
The 5'9" point guard earned a spot in the 1,000-point club at Milwaukee Vincent and throughout the off-season he competed for the Milwaukee Running Rebels AAU program.
From Milwaukee, WI, Butler joins the Bobcats after earning All-Conference his senior season at Homestead High School.
"Reggie is a "do it all player" on the basketball court," Majkrzak said. "He can shoot, post up or drive by you on the offensive end and defensively he takes joy in rebounding and blocking shots."
The 6'5" wing averaged 10 points and 6 rebounds per game and competed for the Wisconsin Focus AAU program.
"There is no doubt Reggie's best basketball is ahead of him and he should thrive at Bryant & Stratton," Majkrzak said.
Transfer, Schneider, comes from University of Wisconsin-Manitowoc where he averaged 17 points and eight rebounds per game. Prior to Manitowoc, Schneider attended Manitowoc Lincoln High School where he earned First Team All-Conference and became a member of the 1,000-point club.
"I've followed TJ's basketball career since he's been in eigth grade," Majkzarak said. "He's a long wing who plays on the perimeter. He's a perfect fit for our offensive system as he can really shoot the three and also attack closeouts."
The 6'8" wing averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per game in high school and competed for the Playground Warriors AAU program.
Three great commitments for Bryant & Stratton basketball has Coach Majkrzak feeling positive about next season.
"Establishing a culture was my top priority when I came to Bryant & Stratton," Majkrzak said. "We wanted to bring in committed students who were great kids off the floor but played with a toughness and a chip on their shoulder. These three fit that definition perfectly."
All three signees will bring something new to the table for the Bobcats next season and Majkrzak is excited to see them all gel together as one unit.
"We've been preaching playing fast to our returners and incoming recruits and adding one of the fastest kids in the state in Justin certainly helps with that," Majkrzak said. "Reggie and TJ are both long wings that have guard skills to go along with size and athleticism and also fit perfectly in our up-tempo system. I've gotten so much support and help from the local basketball community, and being able to bring in these three outstanding student-athletes from the area is a reflection of their belief in our vision for Bobcat basketball."
Coach Majkrzak and his coaching staff will begin finalizing their roster over the coming months and prepare for what looks like an exciting season.
