WAUWATOSA, WI (January 24, 2019) - After a span of seven road games, the Bryant & Stratton College men's basketball team returned to action at home on Wednesday night where they defeated the Richard J. Daley Bulldogs 101-57.
The 44 point win marks as the Bobcats largest margin of victory of the season and moved to 15-7 overall and 14-2 in region play.
At the tip it was Bryant & Stratton getting things rolling early as they jumped out to an 11-4 run in the first four minutes of the half after Region IV Player of the Week (1/22) Justin Brookens sunk one from downtown with 16 minutes left before intermission.
Midway through the half, the Bulldogs caught fire as they put together a 15-10 cutting the deficit two just two points (21-19).
After going scorless for four straight minutes, sophomore guard Kyle McDermed extended the lead up to four after a slashing drive to the basket giving the Bobcats a 23-19 edge.
Battling back-and-forth the remainder of the half, Bryant & Stratton pushed themselves ahead 38-29 at the break.
Holding the Bulldogs to just 1-7 shooting from beyond the arc in the first half, the Bobcats kept their foot on the gas defensively to start the second as they surged out on a 14-2 run to led 52-31 with 17 minutes remaining.
From the 17 minute mark to the midway point of the second half, Bryant & Stratton took a 74-40 lead after freshman forward Jose Sosa knocked in a tough floater.
Holding on to a commanding lead, the Bobcats remained ahead by double figures through the final minutes of the game and defended home court to give them a 5-0 home record this season.
Brookens and freshman guard Mikell Cooper led the way for Bryant & Stratton dropping 20 points a-piece followed by Sosa with a season high 17 points and 12 rebounds.
McDermed produced 12 points off of the bench and freshman guard Manny Jingco added 10 points.
The Bobcats shot just under 50% (49.4%) from the field and outrebounded the Bulldogs 48-46.
