Bio

 Charles Ruffing is in his first season as head men’s basketball coach at Bryant & Stratton College.

 

Ruffing brings eight years of collegiate coaching experience to the Bobcats’ bench, including the last two seasons as the lead assistant coach at NCAA Division III Marian University. He helped guide the Sabres to their second NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, including a 15-win improvement from the season prior to his arrival.

 

In 2020-2021, Ruffing led the West Bend East varsity boys’ basketball team to its first WIAA Division 1 Regional Championship in 20 years in his lone season as head coach.

 

Ruffing has also held assistant coaching positions at Wisconsin Lutheran College and Rockford University. In his only season as the Warriors’ lead assistant, he helped lead WLC to its first NACC championship in program history. Wisconsin Lutheran won 16 conference games during the 2019-2020 season, the most in a single season for the program. As a member of the Regents’ coaching staff, Rockford set a program record for conference wins during the 2018-2019 season, and reached the NACC Tournament for the first time since 2012.

 

Ruffing has also had stops at Williston State College and Franklin College in an assistant coach role. At both institutions, he played a pivotal role in player development and the organization of the strength and conditioning programs.

 

The De Pere native spent his playing career at Marian University and Concordia University Chicago. While at Marian, Ruffing ranked second on the team in assists and helped the Sabres qualify for the NACC Tournament. He was also a member of the school’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was named to the NACC All-Sportsmanship Team. Ruffing transferred to Concordia Chicago where he spent two seasons playing point guard for the Cougars and was named to the Dean’s List as well as a NACC Scholar-Athlete.

 

Ruffing earned his bachelor’s degree in business management with a minor in sports management from Concordia Chicago in 2015. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching from Rockford.
