MILWAUKEE, Wis. (October 9th, 2017) – Bryant & Stratton College men's golf tee' d off this past weekend at the Region IV Tournament where they shot 960 as a team and took fourth place overall.
The tournament took place at Oak Ridge Golf Course located in Lasalle, IL and consisted of nine colleges. The Bobcats finished 12 strokes shy of qualifying for nationals as a team.
The tournament was set to take place over the course of three days but due to weather conditions on Friday, teams were forced to play 27 holes Thursday and Saturday.
Maxwell Rohlinger (Freshman) and Garrett Waloway (Sophomore) both qualified individually for the national tournament taking place in Foley, AL next spring.
"Max played outstanding and was on pace to potentially win the tournament," Bobcats Head coach Andy Runkel said. "He just had some tough weather to deal with for nine straight holes which caused him to fall short."
Rohlinger led the team shooting a score of 230 on 54 holes while Waloway finished shooting 233.
"Garrett played some of the best golf I have ever seen him play on Friday," Runkel said. "He played 11 holes with the weather completely down pouring and wind speed at 30mph and still managed to stay competitive."
Tyler Murrie (Freshman) completed his round shooting 245 and Aaron Gosse (Sophomore) finished at 262.
"I am very proud of the way all my guys played," Runkel said. "It was a great season and we improved every tournament."
After concluding the season on a high note the Bobcats will look to carry over their success to next year. Rohlinger and Waloway will prepare heavily this winter as they look to represent Bryant & Stratton College this spring at the National Tournament.
