Bobcats Drop Two at The Rosemont Dome

MILWAUKEE, WI (March 5, 2018) – The Bryant & Stratton College softball team went on the road to Rosemont, IL on Sunday where they suffered two consecutive losses to McHenry County College and Prairie State College. This marked as just the second tournament for the inaugural softball team as they fall to 1-5 on the season.
03/04 – Game 1 vs. McHenry County College (16-5 L)
Bobcats Pitcher, Alex Villalobos, jumped on the Scots early as she forced a pop-out and strike out against the first two batters. Battling to get the third out, McHenry CC responded with a two-run homerun and took the lead 2-0.
Gaining momentum, the Scots tacked on four more runs all with two outs and went into the bottom of the inning up 6-0. In the bottom the bottom of the inning Kayla Jaskulski singled to start the inning followed by a single from Tori Golden and Heather Anderson.
With bases loaded and one out, Alex Villalobos came the plate where she brought home one with a single to left field. Meghan Strasser followed and drove home two more runs after singling to right field.
The Bobcats cut the deficit to three to end the inning but it was not enough as the Scots continued to tack on runs throughout the remainder of the game.
"I thought our overall approach at the plate got much better this tournament," Bobcats head coach Troy Engibous said. "We cut back on our strikeouts and put the ball in play more consistently today."
Kayla Jaskulski led the way going 2-4 at the plate followed by Heather Anderson 2-4 with 1 RBI.
03/04 – Game 2 vs. Prairie State College (11-1 L)
Opening up the game Prairie State scored first as the Bobcats went scoreless in the top of the inning.
In the top of the second, the Bobcats tied-up the game but then trailed 4-1 after the bottom of the inning and were never able to recover. Prairie State tacked on 7 more runs and the game was called in the fifth inning.
Alex Villalobos took the loss as she went four innings allowing 11 runs and 16 hits, striking out two and walking none.
"I think as the games went on Alex did a much better job hititng her spots consistently," Engibous said. "We will continue to work on hitting the right spots as the season moves forward."
Kayla Jaskulski led the Bobcats with three hits in three at bats.
Up next for the Bobcats is a double-header at Triton College on Tuesday (03/06).
"We need to come out from the start and play solid defense all seven innings," Engibous said.
First pitch will take place at 4:00pm.
