WAUWATOSA, WI (March 29, 2018) – The Bryant & Stratton College Lady Bobcats went on the road yesterday to Madison College for a double header matchup where they came up short 6-1 in the game one and 10-7 in game two. The Bobcats (1-11-1) now fall in to 0-7 in region play and Madison (20-5) moves to 9-1 in region competition.
03/29 – Game 1 vs. Madison College (6-1 L)
After both teams going scoreless through two innings, the Bobcats loaded up the bases with one out in the top of third before shortstop, Heather Anderson, hit a ground ball to the second baseman to bring in the first run of the game.
After shutting down the Wolfpack in the bottom of the third the Bobcats themselves went scoreless in the top of the fourth.
Falling into trouble in the bottom fo the fourth, the Bobcats let up three runs. Trailing 3-1 in the top of the fifth, the Bobcats were never able to recover and the Wolfpack captured the win.
Tori Golden (3B) led the way for the Bobcats with two hits followed by Alex Villalobos (P) and Kayla Jaskulski (CF) with one hit.
Brooke Masi (2B) had one hit with one run.
Villalobos threw six innings with four earned runs, two walks and one strike out.
03/29 – Game 2 vs. Madison College (10-7 L)
In game two, the Wolfpack had the bats rolling early as they tacked on five runs in the bottom of the second. In the top of the third the Bobcats retaliated after Masi lined one to left for a single. Lead off batter, Jaskulski, came up next and grounded into a fielders choice.
Up next was Tori Golden who grounded into a 5-3 play but advanced Jaskulski to second base. With two outs, Anderson stepped up to the plate and tripled on a line drive to right field to bring in Jaskulski for the Bobcats first run of the game.
In the bottom of the inning the Wolfpack tacked on four more runs to make it a 9-1 game going into the top of the fourth.
At the top of the inning, with one out Amanda Zane (RF) lined one to center to bring in Villalobos and make it a 9-2 game. The Bobcats scored another run in the inning on an error by the Wolfpack and went into the bottom of the fourth 9-3.
After both teams going scoreless in the fifth, the Bobcats earned four runs in the top of the sixth making it a 9-7 ball game. With one out in the bottom of the sixth, the Wolfpack scored another run and went on their way to winning the second game of the double header.
Zane led the way for the Bobcats going 3 for 3 with 2 runs and 1 RBI followed by Villalobos with 2 hits and 1 run.
"The last two weeks we have been a different team," Bobcats head coach Troy Engibous said. "The wins and loses don't show that yet but I am very pleased with how we are playing."
The Bobcats made one error as a team and had nine total hits in game two.
"Yesterday the girls could have given up in game two being down 9-1 but they fought all the way back to make it a game," Engibous said. "These nine girls deserve a lot of credit and I am excited for the stretch run of the season."
Up next for the Bobcats is their inaugural home double header on Friday, April 6 against Carl Sandburg College. First pitch will take place at 2:00pm.
