MILWAUKEE Wis. (June 19, 2017) - Bryant & Stratton College is thrilled to announce that women's basketball player Kiara Donaldson #5 jersey has officially been featured in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame History Museum located in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The Women'sHistory Museum opened in June of 1999 and is dedicated to honor all levels of women's basketball. Due to her miraculous performance this past season, Donaldson's uniform was selected as part of the 2016-17 ring of honor.
Leading the Bobcats to a 17-10 overall record while averaging 24.5 points per game, Donaldson shot an outstanding 52.3% from the field and 36.5% from beyond the arc. She finished the season as the fourth leading scorer in the nation.
"This is a special time for Kiara," Lady Bobcats Head coach Jeff Lorenz said. "She had such an incredible season last year and achieved so much and now this just tops it all off."
The 5'7" guard was named Second Team All-American, 1st Team All-Region, and was a four-time Region IV Player of the week last year.
"Kiara just flat out works hard each and every day," Lorenz said. "It is not an accident that she earned so many awards this past year because she put the time into her game to be the player she is."
Although Donaldson is known for her jump shot on the court, she is also a spectacular student. She earned a spot on the Dean's List for the 2016-17 academic year.
"I could not be more proud of Kiara for making the Dean's List," Lorenz said. "As a student athlete, the student side always comes first and Kiara is a prime example of what being a student athlete is all about."
Currently Donaldson holds the school record for most points scored in a single game when she dropped a career high 40 points on January 20th, 2017 vs Gogebic Community College. Donaldson competed in all 27 games last season and was the key component to the Bobcats overall success.
"Last year was great but I am very excited about next season with all five starters returning and a great recruiting class coming in," Lorenz said.
Although Lorenz has coached four All-American athletes throughout his career, Donaldson marks as the first athlete he has coached that has their jersey featued in the Women's Basketball Hallf of Fame History Museum.
Certainly Donaldson will celebrate this accomplishment with her teammates, coaches, and family but will definitely switch gears quickly as she prepares for next season.
