MILWAUKEE, Wis. (July 12, 2017) – Bryant & Stratton College women's basketball is pleased to announce the signing of Madison "Maddi" McCoy out of Champaign, Illinois.
McCoy attended St. Thomas More High School where she competed on the varsity team and led her squad to a 12-15 overall record senior year.
The 6'1 power forward has the ability to score with her back to the basket as well as grab rebounds on both the defensive and offensive end of the floor. Averaging 8.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game last season has Bobcats Head coach Jeff Lorenz anxious to watch her compete in a Bobcat uniform.
"Maddi is the type of player that I have been searching for over the past six years of college coaching," Lorenz said. "She can dominate in the post and run the floor in transition."
Basketball certainly runs in the McCoy family as the older daughter, Tori, competed for the Ohio State University women's basketball program before transferring to the Marquette University this past offseason.
"The fact that Maddi has been able to follow her sisters foot steps is awesome," Lorenz said. "She has learned so much about the game just by watching Tori compete."
With the Fall semester approaching quickly, McCoy will look to follow her sisters example and help the Bobcats compete night in and night out.
"Maddi is a true post-player and in all my years coaching at the college level I have never had a true post-player." Lorenz said.
An outstanding returning and recruiting class in the making the Bobcats will look to win the region this season and contend for a national title.
