MILWAUKEE, WI (January 17, 2018) – The Bryant & Stratton College Lady Bobcats went on the road to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater last night where they came up short 79-78 with seconds remaining in the game. The Lady Bobcats now moved to 15-7 on the season but remain 10-0 in region play.
Getting off to an early lead had the Warhawks trailing 20-16 at the end of the first. Looking to make a run, the Warhawks amped up their defense and forced the Bobcats into a shooting slump throughout the second quater.
Trailing 39-32 at the break, Bobcats head coach Jeff Lorenz and his staff made adjustments at halftime to regain back the lead.
"We shot poorly at the tail end of the half which allowed them to take a lead on us," Lorenz said. "We needed to get back to what we did well in the first quarter and implement that into our second half of play."
Getting back to their transition offensive style of play is exactly what the Lady Bobcats did as they regained the lead 52-51 after a bucket and a foul by Freshman forward, Maddy McCoy.
Responding to the run by the Bobcats, the Warhawks knocked down a couple shots from beyond the arc and led 64-58 at the end of the third quarter.
"Give them credit they made tough shots," Lorenz said.
A constant battle throughout the fourth quarter led to multiple lead changes by both teams.
With 30 seconds remaining the Bobcats led by two. After a deep three pointer made by the Warhawks, the Bobcats trailed by one and failed to capitalize on their last offensive possession which allowed the Warhawks to snatch a victory.
Kiara Donaldson (Milwaukee, WI) led the way with 25 points followed by Ashley Williams (Aurora, IL) with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Maddy McCoy (Champaign, IL) added 14 points off the bench.
Up next for the Lady Bobcats is a Region IV home contest on Saturday against Waubonsee Community College. The Bobcats will look to get revenge this time around as they lost to the Chiefs 75-62 in last season's contest.
Tip-off will take place at 1:00pm and the game can be viewed live HERE
