MILWAUKEE, WI (February 26, 2018) – The Bryant & Stratton College Lady Bobcats are set to begin their first ever playoff appearance in program history with a home opener taking place against Oakton Communtiy College on Tuesday at 5:30pm.
The Lady Bobcats (21-9) were unable to compete in the regional playoffs last season due to the NJCAA bylaws which prohibits first year athletic programs from playoff participation.
The second year program is focused on making some serious noise these playoffs and Tuesday night is where it will begin.
"This is what we have been preparing for since day one of practice this season," Bobcats head coach Jeff Lorenz said. "It's basically a new season; our record does not matter anymore so we need to come ready to go every night."
The Lady Bobcats have won six of their last eight contests which includes three wins by 25 points or more.
"This is a that time of year when we should be playing our best basketball," Lorenz said. "It's win or go home now and I think we are ready for the challenge."
With an undefeated record in region play this year and six returning players from last year who were responsible for putting the program on the map, the Lady Bobcats are looking to make a playoff run.
The road to the national tournament consists of three games; the quarter finals, semi-finals and regional championship. The winner of Tuesday night's contest will move on to the semi-finals which is hosted at Waubonsee Community College.
Being the first playoff program in Bryant & Stratton College-Wisconsin history will definitely add some nervousness in the players and coaching staff.
"It is always a good thing to have a little bit of nerves going into a game," Lorenz said. "The pressure keeps you on your toes and brings out the best of your game."
The Lady Bobcats have certainly enjoyed their ride so far this season but do not want it to end anytime soon. Lorenz and his coaching staff will take this journey one game at a time as they focus heavily on Tuesday night.
Spectators can watch the game live on the Bobcats official YouTube Channel.
