WAUWATOSA, WI (March 8, 2018) – The Bryant & Stratton College women's basketball team will go on the road Saturday to Sugar Grove, IL for the Region IV Championship game against the McHenry County College Scots. Tip-off will take place at 12:00pm.
The winner of the contest will move onto the NJCAA National Tournament which takes place from March 20-24 in Harrison, Arkansas.
Led by head coach Jeff Lorenz, the Bobcats will look to become the first ever Bryant & Stratton College-Wisconsin athletic program to reach the national tournament.
With an overall record of 23-9 and 16-0 in region play, the Bobcats earned the number one seed throughout the Region IV playoffs which makes them the favorite in Saturdays matchup.
"We will need to come out and play our best basketball," Lorenz said. "March is a crazy time of year for all of college basketball so it is important to come prepared and focused."
The Bobcats and Scots squared off earlier in the season at McHenry CC where the Bobcats came out victorious 75-68.
"This is a neutral court and both teams have improved tremendously since the last time we played each other so it will be a battle for sure," Lorenz said.
Prohibited from playoff participation last year due to the NJCAA governing bylaws which permits first-year athletic programs from post-season competition, reaching the Region IV championship certainly marks as an accomplishment for the Bobcats at such an early stage.
"The girls just want to compete day-in and day-out," Lorenz said "They put so much time into the game which is the reason we are in this position right now."
The Bobcats are in a great position but nowhere near their overall end goal. They will take on each game one-by-one which begins on Saturday for the Region IV title.
