WAUWATOSA, WI (April 17, 2018) - Bryant & Stratton College's women's basketball player, Kiara Donaldson, led her team to a regional championship and a first-ever national tournament appearance this past season and now topped off her final year as a Bobcat earning NJCAA Second Team All-American honors. This is the second year in-a-row Donaldson earned this award. All-American List
The 5'7" sophomore averaged 17.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game this past season but established her name throughout the country her freshman year averaging 24.5 ppg and 6.6 rpg.
"I could not be more excited for Kiara," Bobcats head coach Jeff Lorenz said. "She works so hard and is deserving of this honor."
Donaldson scored a combined total of 1,210 points in her career at Bryant & Stratton making her the first player to reach the 1,000-point club.
"There are NJCAA colleges that have had a basketball program for decades and have not had a 1,000-point scorer," Associate Athletic Director Ryan Ratajewski said.
"It is a major accomplishment. Kiara's career points at Bryant & Stratton could stand as the all-time leading scorer for many years to come."
The two-time All-American will be taking her talents to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) next season as she recently committed to competing for the Mississippi Valley State University Devilette's. MVSU is a NCAA Division I college located in Itta Benna, Mississippi.
"As long as Kiara continues to work hard and stay focused her future will be very bright," Lorenz said. "I am so proud of her on her commitment to Mississippi Valley State University and I am looking forward to following her and seeing how she does."
Donaldson earned many other prestigious awards over her two seasons in a Bobcat uniform. This past season she was named NJCAA Region IV Division II District L Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Region team. In the 2016-17 season she was named NJCAA Region IV Division II District L Player of the Year, First-Team All-Region and was Region IV Player of the Week three separate times.
Donaldson's career at Bryant & Stratton has come to an end and she will be tough shoes for Lorenz to fill. She left her mark in the history books as a Bobcat and will look to make a similar impact to the MVSU program come next year.
