WAUWATOSA, WI (November 29, 2018) - After two weeks off from region competition, the Bryant & Stratton College women's basketball team got back into region play on Wednesday night and traveled to Madison College where they suffered a 100-94 loss. The loss puts the Bobcats at 5-3 overall on the season.
With nine minutes remaining in the game, the Bobcats led 71-65 after a deep three pointer from Bobcats sophmore, Ja'Taviah Conley.
The Bobcats seemed to have all momentum on their side until the Wolfpack went on a 4-0 run cutting the deficit to two points.
"We were playing hard and for the most part our execution was solid," Bobcats head coach Jeff Lorenz said. "Both teams like to play up-tempo which made it a back and forth game."
After multiple possessions of trading baskets, the Bobcats were able to stretch their lead up to five after a pull up jumper from freshman guard, Essence Rayford.
With the score set at 81-76, the Bobcats let their foot of the gas as Madison brought the game back within two (81-79) with just under five minutes left in the game.
A fast paced battle down the stretch, both sides continued trading baskets until Madison captured their first lead since the two minute mark of the third quarter (88-87) with four minutes left in the game. The Wolfpack continued piling on points getting out to 98-91 lead and gave the Bobcats their second straight loss.
"We battled down the stretch," Lorenz said. "The effort was there but at the end of the day they made more plays than us down the stretch which allowed them to walk away with the win."
For the second straight game the Bobcats had five players scoring in double figures.
Rayford led the way with 22 points, four steals and three assists off the bench followed by freshman guard, Ashley Moses, dropping 15 points and four rebounds.
Freshman, Kiyanna Rodgers, produced 14 points on 7-15 shooting from the field while freshman, Taynique Hawthorne, contributed 13 points.
Sophomore leader, Ja'Taviah Conley, finished the game with 13 points which is two points over her season average.
