WAUWATOSA, WI (February 20, 2019) - For the first time ever the Bryant & Stratton College women's basketball team went up against the Milwaukee Area Technical College Stormers on the road where they earned an 80-47 victory to complete their district play of the regular season.
The win improved the Bobcats to 18-10 overall and 10-6 in region competition As MATC falls to 6-22 (4-17 region).
Freshman guard Serinity Jackson led the way for the Bobcats with a team-high 17 points on 8-14 shooting from the field. Jackson added six rebounds, two assists, and two steals to the boxscore.
Sophomore forward Maddy McCoy produced a her sixth double-double of the season dropping 14 points and 11 boards.
Freshman guard Taynique Hawthorne finished the contest with 12 points, three steals and three boards followed by freshman guard Essence Rayford contributing 11 points off of the bench.
Throughout the first six minutes of the first quarter, Bryant & Stratton propelled out to a 23-7 run after sophomore guard Valerie Nzeakor converted a tough jump shot in the lane.
"We came out pushing the ball in transition," Bobcats head coach Jeff Lorenz said. "We found the outlet and got easy baskets."
To start the second quarter, the Bobcats led 29-14 and extended their lead to 43-24 at the break.
Just over the midway point of the third quarter, Jackson kept the momentum in the Bobcats favor after knocking down a contested jumper in the lane to maintain a 19 point advantage with four minutes left before the fourth quarter.
At the start of the final quarter of play, the Bobcats held a 23 point edge over the Stormers and continued to pile on the points as they stretched their lead to 30 with two minutes remaining and never looked back.
"It is great to see us playing solid basketball at the tail end of the season," Lorenz said.
The Bobcats shot 44.6% from the field and just under 30.0% from beyond the arc.

Bryant & Stratton will complete their final regular season game on Saturday on the road at Kankakee Community College.
Tip-off will take place at 1:00pm.
Seeding for the regional playoffs will take place on Sunday.
