Bobcats Conclude Regular Season with 82-69 Win Over Kankakee

WAUWATOSA, WI (February 24, 2019) - In their final game of the regular season, the Bryant & Stratton College women's basketball team went on the road to defeat Kankakee Community College 82-69 which gave the Bobcats a number one seed in the regional playoffs for the third consecutive year.
The win improved Bryant & Stratton to 19-10 overall and 11-6 in region play.
The Bobcats had five players recording double figure points as freshman guard Taynique Hawthorne led the way with 18 points followed by freshman guard Kiyanna Rodgers dropping 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Sophomore forward Maddy McCoy produced 13 points and six rebounds while freshman guard Serinity Jackson added 10 points and three steals.
Coming off of the bench was sophomore guard Valerie Nzeakor with 11 points.
The Bobcat shot 44.8% from the field and 41.2% from distance.
After a dissapointing season opening loss to Rock Valley Community College back in November, the Bobcats concluded the season 8-2 at home, 7-5 on the road and 4-3 on a neutral floor.
The largest win streak of the season came in early November when the Bobcats compiled five wins in-a-row.
"We had to grind all season long and I am proud of how we are improving every day," Bobcats head coach Jeff Lorenz said.
McCoy and Rodgers both earned a All-Region honors.

Bryant & Stratton will host Prairie State College in the opening round of the regional playoffs on Tuesday, February 26.
Tip-off will take place at 5:30pm.
Prairie State will be a new look for the Bobcats as both teams did not square off against each other this season.
