WAUWATOSA, WI (August 27, 2018) - After a long year of recruiting, the Bryant & Stratton College women's soccer program took the field at home against Lakeland University for a 7:00pm matchup where the Bobcats earned a 1-0 victory.
After 26 minutes into the first-half, Syndney Norlander scored the first goal in program history on a miraculous cross from Ari Duncanson to seal the first win in of the year.
"We took advantage of a set-piece opportunity, which is something we have been stressing all preaseason," Bobcats head coach Lucas Henderson said. "Ari sent a beautiful cross and Sydney did what she needed to find the back of the net. It was a massive effort on both parts."
After a potential season ending injury for Bobcats forward, Hailey Stacey, the team competed with just 12 players but still managed to come out victorious.
"This team has a lot of belief in themselves," Henderson said. "I have been constantly impressed with the positive attitude and focus they are bringing to training; and they did the same prior to today's game."
Throughout the second half, both teams battled back and forth but the Bobcats were able to fend off Lakeland and start the season off 1-0.
