MILWAUKEE, WIS. (February 20, 2017) – Bryant & Stratton College is thrilled to announce that Alexis Vilkoski from New Berlin, Wisconsin has officially committed to putting on a Bobcat softball uniform next season.
Vilkoski comes from Greenfield High School where she competes on the varsity softball team as well as on a competitve club team known as the Greenfield Ignitors.
Choosing a collegiate team was a tough decision for Vilkoski but Bobcats Head softball coach Troy Engibous alleviated the pressure by sharing his philosphy and knowledge of the game throughout the process.
"Coach Troy helped make my decision pretty easy with his knowledge of the game and his enthusiasm for this program," Vilkoski said.
Likewise Vilkoski's intelligence on the diamond was the first characteristic that stood out to Engibous.
"Knowledge of the game is just as important to me as athletic ability and Alexis definitely has the knowledge for the game of Softball," Engibous said. "She has had some great coaches and direction from family over the years and I look forward to being her next coach and watching her continue to grow on and off the field."
A versatile player Vilkoski will spend most of her time behind the plate catching and at third base for the Bobcats next year.
Next year will be the inaugural season for the Bobcat softball program which Vilkoski is most excited about.
"Being a part of the first of anything is always cool but when it also involves the sport I love that's awesome!"
Vilkoski will be enrolling in the Criminal Justice program at Bryant & Stratton College and spectators can see her wearing jersey number 20 on the diamond.
Coach Engibous will continue recruiting high school senior student-athletes for the fall 2017 semester as the team will begin scrimmages against other collegiate teams this fall to prepare for the 2018 inaugural season.
