MILWAUKEE, WI (November 22, 2017) – The Bryant & Stratton College men's basketball team hosted the home opener last night and defeated the College of Lake County Lancers 72-59. The Bobcats currently stand at 3-4 and 2-1 in region play.
The first half began in a fast-paced battle with quick transition three's and easy baskets on both sides. Despite multiple runs throughout the back-end of the first half, the Bobcats led 37-24 at the end of half.
"The energy was definitely there which played a huge role in our big lead at the half," Bobcats head coach Brian Richert said. "We held strong when they tried to make multiple runs and stayed patient on the offensive side of the ball which resulted in easy baskets."
The second half consisted of both teams trading basketball and knocking down jump shots. With three minutes left in the contest the Bobcats were able to get key stops defensively and knock down their free throws which sealed the deal.
"We weren't able to extend the lead in the second half but we maintained the gap which is all we needed to do," Richert said.
Brian Bearden (Germantown, WI) led the Bobcats with 26 points while shooting 10-16 from the field and grabbing 14 rebounds.
Jeffrey Steel (Miami, FL) added 11 points and six rebounds.
Richert and his coaching staff will look ahead to their next region match-up that takes places Saturday, November 25 at 3:00pm.
The Bobcats will square off against Carl Sandburg College (6-2) as they look to get back to a .500 record.
