MILWAUKEE, WIS. (December 1, 2017) – The Bryant & Stratton College men's basketball team hosted the Madison College Wolfpack yesterday in a Region IV match-up where they lost a tough battle 88-85. The Bobcats now stand at 4-6 overall and 3-3 in region play.
Madison College (5-3) moved to 3-2 in the region.
The Bobcats started the first half slow with defensive breakdowns and poor execution on the offensive end. Shooting below 40% from the field led to a 16-point deficit at the end of the half for the Bobcats
"We struggled getting stops defensively" Bobcats head coach Brian Richert said. "You have to give them credit for some of it though because they were knocking down tough shots, especially from beyond the arc."
The second half begun with the Bobcats trailing 49-33.
Despite a large deficit, the Bobcats put on a full-court zone defense and fought their way back trailing only six points with 12 minutes left in the game.
"We made adjustments at halftime that worked very well for us in the second half," Richert said. "We caused many turnovers defensively and moved the ball well which put us in a position to win the game."
The Bobcats trailed by two with just over a minute left but failed to connect on their offensive possession which led to a foul and free throws for the Wolfpack.
With 10 seconds remaining and trailing by three points, the Bobcats had a chance at a buzzer beating three-point shot but came up short and suffered their sixth loss of the year.
Lincoln Wieseman (Lake Geneva, WI) led the way with 25 points and 10 rebounds followed by Lewrenzo Byers (Milwaukee, WI) with 20 points.
Jeffrey Steel (Miami, FL) added 15 points and Brian Bearden (Germantown, WI) tacked on 11 points.
Despite a tough loss against a state rival, the Bobcats will look to get back on track their next game at home on December 9 against Gogebic Community College. The Bobcats lost to Gogebic Community College 71-76 in last season's contest but will hope to get revenge this time around.
