MILWAUKEE, WIS. (December 11, 2017) – The Bryant & Stratton College men's basketball team triumphed over Gogebic Community College 96-62 on Saturday which marks as largest margin of victory this season for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats moved to 5-6 overall and stand at 3-3 in the region.
After suffering a tough three-point loss their last game, the Bobcats were determined to get back on track and come out with a victory.
"We had a great week of practice and it showed tonight," Bobcats head coach Brian Richert said. "Everyone was focused all week and it carried over to the game."
A tight battle throughout the first eight minutes had the Bobcats leading the Samsons only by three with just over ten minutes remaining in the half.
A few transition baskets by Lincoln Wieseman and multiple put-backs by Luka Kristijan helped the Bobcats extend the lead to 11 points at the start of the second half.
"That was very important for us to get up to a double-digit lead at the end of the half," Richert said. "It gave us momentum and energy for the next half of the game."
To start the second half, the Bobcats continued to force turnovers and knock down their shots.
Once extending their lead to 20, there was no turning back for the Bobcats as they cruised their way to a 34-point victory.
"I am very proud of how we played," Richert said. "Everyone contributed to this win."
Lincoln Wieseman (Lake Geneva, WI) led the way for the Bobcats with 23 points and eight rebounds followed by Luka Kristijan (Croatia) with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Lewrenzo Byers (Brown Deer, WI) tacked on 11 points and six assists while Brian Bearden (Germantown, WI) added 11 points off the bench.
Up next for the Bobcats is a home contest Tuesday night vs Kankakee Community College. This will mark as another Region IV match-up.
