WAUWATOSA, WI (June 14, 2018) – A basketball city, Milwaukee has been a hot recruiting spot for the Bryant & Stratton College's men's basketball program as Head Coach Matt Majkrzak signed two more players to his roster that will be representing the Bobcats on and off the court next season. Mikell Cooper and Reggie Dean both signed their National Letter of Intent for the 2018-19 season and Majkrzak is extremely excited to have them on board.
"We couldn't be more excited to add two of the elite players in the city of Milwaukee to Bobcat Nation," Majkrzak said. "Both played for excellent high school coaches in Shon Haralson and Brandon Joseph, so they will come in ready to contribute from day one."
Out of Bradley Tech High School, Cooper excelled at the varsity level earning First Team All-City Conference and First Team All-Area.
"Mikell is a dynamic lefty guard that is equally comfortable running the show at the point or stretching the defense off the ball," Majkrzak said.
The 6'1 guard averaged 19 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals per game at Bradley Tech.
"As a full qualifier, our goal for Mikell is for him to be here one season and move onto a high level NCAA program," Majkrzak said. "He can score equally well on all three levels and is the rare prospect who is great shooting transition three's and finishing above the rim. In addition to scoring, he's great at setting up his teammates and has a nose for the ball; both rebounding and anticipating steals."
From Destiny High School, Dean joins the Bobcats after averaging 14 points and 10 rebounds per game his senior season.
"Reggie is one of the elite athletes in the entire state," Majkrzak said. "Our guards will love playing with him as he's a guy you can throw a lob up to and he can finish it with a dunk."
Dean competed on a competitive AAU program known as DTA in the off-season's throughout high school.
"Reggie is an underrated perimeter player, has a soft touch out to the three-point line and uses his athleticism to finish at a high clip," Majkrzak said. "Anytime a wing is averaging double-digit rebounds; it speaks to their motor and will to get the ball."
Coach Majkrzak will be expecting a lot out of both signees as he knows they are vital pieces to the program.
"Mikell and Reggie had a lot of offers from respected junior colleges and were high priority recruits for our program."
Cooper and Dean will celebrate their committments and continue to preparing for whats looks like an exciting year of Bobcat basketball.
