Prior to attending Western Michigan, the 6'3" combo guard competed for Don Bosco Prep. where he averaged 16 points and five rebounds per game.
"The addition of a NCAA D1 transfer is always exciting for a program," Majkrzak said. "More importantly, Kyle is a perfect fit to our program on and off the floor. We are getting another gym rat, great student, and person from a great family."
As a varsity player in high school, McDermed Averaged 18 points and was named First Team All-Conference and All-Area. He also earned the Scholar Athlete Award.
"On the floor, Kyle can catch lob dunks and play above the rim," Majkrzak said. "He has impressive athleticism and can know down a high level of three point shots. Coming from Western Michigan, he understands the level of work that goes into being a D1 player."
With a full season of NCAA division I experience, the lefty sharp-shooter will be a vital addition to the program and Coach Majkrzak will look for him to take on a major leadership role.
"We will be leaning on him for leadership with freshman who have aspirations of playing at that level," Majkrzak said. "We are very fortunate to have a great group of student-athletes and are excited to start working on the floor and in the classroom on September fifth."
The Bobcats official 2018-19 schedule will be released in the coming weeks as Coach Majkrzak prepares for what looks like to be a promising season.
