WAUWATOSA, WI (December 19, 2018) - After a tough stretch of three consecutive games against NJCAA Division I programs, the Bryant & Stratton College men's basketball team hosted McHenry County College on Tuesday night where they earned a 93-78 victory.
The win improved the Bobcats to a 10-4 overall record which includes 9-0 in region play.
Leading just 23-21 with six minutes left in the first half, it was sophomore guard, Quentin Kendricks, who got things rolling for the Bobcats as he knocked down a triple extending the lead to five with 5:30 to go in the half.
"After the weekend we wanted to get off to a quick start," Bobcats head coach, Matt Majkrzak, said.
Over the final minutes of the half, the Bobcats continued to pile on the points as floor general, Justin Brookens, knocked down two consecutive shots, which included one from distance, extending the lead to 10 points (33-23).
"It took a little bit to get going but I was really proud of our energy and effort throughout the first half," Majkrzak said.
Bryant & Stratton ended the half with a 41-25 lead and had all momemtum swinging their way.
Throughout the second half, the deficit fluctuated between 13-20 points but the Bobcats never lost their double-digit lead as they went on their way to earning their ninth region victory.
"We wanted to guard a little bit harder and establish our defensive identity," Majkrzak said. "We certainly improved tonight but still need to fight defensively for all 40 minutes."
The Bobcats gained a 23-21 lead at the six minute mark of the first half and never trailed the remainder of the game.
Bryant & Stratton had five players in double figure scoring as Brookens kept the Bobcats ahead with a his stellar play as he dropped 18 of his 26 points in the second half. Sophomore guard, Joe Duty, and freshman guard, Mikell Cooper, dropped 16 points a-piece followed by sophomore guards, Kyle McDermed and Quentin Kendricks each adding 11 points.
Bryant & Stratton reached their second highest shooting perecentage of the season at 50% as well as a resounding 44.4% from long range. They totaled 12 threes and were 19-23 from the charity stripe.
The Bobcats have now one five of their last seven games which includes six region victories.

Bryant & Stratton will get back on the road as they travel to Oakton Community College on Thursday for another region match-up. The Bobcats defeated Oakton 86-59 last season at home.
Tip-off will take place at 7:00pm.
