WAUWATOSA, WI (December 20, 2018) - In their second straight region iv match, the Bryant & Stratton College men's basketball team went on the road to Des Plaines, IL where they defeated the Oakton Community College Owls 92-89 in a thrilling finish.
The win improved the Bobcats to 11-4 overall and 10-0 in region play.
Getting off to a strong start, Bryant & Stratton separated themselves quickly after a steal and transition layup by sophmore guard, Quentin Kendricks, which extended their lead to 13 (36-23) with under six minutes to go before the break.
In the closing moments before halftime, the Bobcats increased their lead to 17 (49-32) after a strong drive the the rim by sophomore guard, Kyle McDermed.
Just under the midway point of the second half, Bryant & Stratton continued to pile on the points as sophmore guard, Joe Duty, helped extend the lead to 26 points (81-55) after knocking down a deep three.
Despite the large deficit, the Owls managed to stay composed as they put together 20-7 run over the course of five minutes and trailed 88-75 with three minutes remaining.
Leading by 13 and only minutes to go, the Bobcats continued to see their lead slip away as the Owls decreased the gap to just five points (90-85) with 57 seconds remaining.
After a multiple possessions, the Owls went to the line and knocked down one of two and trailed by just four (90-86) with seconds remaining.
With the clock on their side, Bryant & Stratton held the ball forcing the Owls to foul and put them at the line for a one and one.
Missing the front end of the one and one, the Owls came down in transition and knocked down a shot from distance cutting the deficit to one (90-89) with 7 seconds left.
With the clock against them, the Owls were forced to foul again putting freshman guard, Justin Brookens, at the line where sunk two of two and gave the Bobcats a 92-89 coushion.
One defensive stop from earning the win, Bryant & Stratton held on strong as they forced the Owls into a tough shot that was off the mark and obtained their 10th region victory on the season.
Bryant & Stratton had four players score in double figures as Brookens led the way for the Bobcats dropping 25 points and nine assists followed by Kendricks with 17 points on 7-12 shooting from the field.
Freshman guard, Mikell Cooper, added 13 points off of the bench and McDermed added 12 on 50% shooting.
The Bobcats shot just under 53% from the field and a remarkable 48% from distance.

Bryant & Stratton will stay on the road as they travel to Cicero, IL for another region iv game against Morton College on Saturday. The Bobcats lost to Morton College 66-63 last season and will be looking to keep their undefeated region record alive.
Tip-off will take place at 7:00pm.
