WAUWATOSA, WI (February 25, 2019) - The Bryant & Stratton College softball team opened up their season in Austin, MN over the weekend where they suffered four consecutive losses in two days.
The Bobcats (0-4) competed in Austin, MN last season and went 1-3 on the weekend trip.
2/23 - Game 1 vs Ellsworth Community College (15-1 Loss)
After going scoreless in the top of the first, Ellsworth Community College got their bats going quickly afte a three-run shot to take an early 3-0 lead.
Gaining momentum off of the homerun, Ellsworth continued to pile on the runs over the Bobcats as they led 11-0 to start the top of the second.
Trailing to start the top of the third, Bryant & Stratton captured their first and only run of the game after sophomore Brooke Masi singled on a line drive to right field bringing home freshman Ashley Weimann.
Masi led the way with one hit and one RBI followed by Weimann with one hit and one run.
Sophomore Melissa Biefeld, freshman Rachel Myland and freshman Kelly Schiller each had one hit in the game.
Freshman pitcher Alyssa Hild (0-1) threw four innings with six strikeouts. Hild gave up four 11 unearned runs.
2/23 - Game 2 vs Ellsworth Community College (7-6 Loss)
In game two of the double header, Ellsworth jumped out early in the top of the first after a triple to knock in the first run of the game.
Trailing 1-0 heading into the bottom of the third, the Bobcats tied up the game at 1-1 after Weimann lined a home run to left field.
Holding Ellsworth scorless in the top of the fourth, Bryant & Stratton tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the inning after Weimann singled with two outs bringing in sophomore Heather Anderson and freshman Samantha Flannery.
Leading 3-1 in the top of the fifth, the bats got hot for Ellsworth CC as they brought in six runs to take a commanding 7-3 lead and steal the win.
Weimann finished the game with two hits, two runs and two RBI's followed by Flannery with two hits and two runs.
Anderson and Masi each had two hits and one run.
Freshman pitcher Mercedes Griesbach threw six innings with four strikeouts and five unearned runs.
2/24 - Game 3 vs North Iowa Area Community College (9-0 Loss)
Coming off of back-to-back losses, Bryant & Stratton hoped to capture their first win of the season but failed to do so as NIACC jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
Failing to produce a single hit, the Bobcats saw their third loss come early as NIACC earned the win in five innings.
Hild threw 3.2 innings while striking out one and giving up five earned runs.
Sophomore pitcher Amanda Zane gave up one earned run.
2/24 - Game 4 vs Kirkwood Communit College (12-3 Loss)
Unable to get on the board in the top of the first, the Bobcats fell behind early after Kirkwood took a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the inning.
In the bottom of the second, Kirkwood tacked on five more runs to take an 11-0 lead and never looked back.
Schiller led the way for the Bobcats offensively with two hits and one RBI followed by Biefeld with one hit and one RBI.
Greisbach threw four innings and gave up 14 hits.

Bryant & Stratton will travel to Myrtle Beach, SC for a week long trip where they will play 12 games in five days.
Game one of the trip will take place on Friday. First pitch at 10:30am.
