MILWAUKEE, Wis. (November 15, 2017) – The Bryant & Stratton College women's basketball team traveled to Moline, IL yesterday and defeated the Black Hawk College Braves 67-42. This marked as the first Region IV Division II match-up of the season for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats started the game pushing the ball and transition which led to a 6-0 run and they never turned back.
At the end of the first quarter, the Bobcats led 16-3 which made head coach Jeff Lorenz very pleased.
"I thought we executed the game plan as good as we could have," Lorenz said. "We rebounded the ball and hit the outlet quickly which is the style-of-play we perform best at."
Despite a second quarter push by the Braves, the Bobcats led 26-18 at the half.
"We started being a little careless with the ball in the second quarter and some of our shots just did not fall," Lorenz said. "There will be slumps in the game like that and I am proud of how they fought through it and maintained the lead."
The third quarter remained relatively close as the Bobcats led 44-31 at the start of the fourth.
Lorenz and his staff made adjustments in the final 10 minutes which led the Bobcats to a 25 points victory.
The Bobcats move to 4-2 overall on the year and 2-0 in the region.
Ashley Williams (Aurora, IL) led the Bobcats with 14 points and six rebounds followed by Kyla Pitts (Milwaukee, WI) with 11 points and four rebounds.
Jazlyn Drake (Milwaukee, WI) added 10 points and Gabrielle Norwood (Milwaukee, WI) tacked on seven points off the bench.
Next up for the Bobcats is a two-day tournament in Quincy, IL where the Bobcats will look to extend their record to 6-2.
The first game takes place Friday against John Wood Community College at 7:00pm CT. Game two will take place Saturday verse North Central Missouri College at 1:00pm CT.
