MILWAUKEE, WI (February 2, 2018) – The Bryant & Stratton College Lady Bobcats went on the road last night and defeated a tough NJCAA Division I program, Highland Community College, 85-62. Highland CC (12-6) was coming off a six game winning streak before the Lady Bobcats (18-7) put a stop to it yesterday.
Opening up the game strong, the Bobcats got out to a 28-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and were able to build upon that the remainder of the half. Leading 42-23 at the break, the Bobcats had all of the momentum and were dominating the game on both sides of the floor.
"We had a great week of practice to prepare for this game and it showed tonight out on the court," Bobcats head coach Jeff Lorenz said. "We disrupted the passing lanes and crashed the boards which needed to be done against a team like Highland."
Continuing on with their aggressive defensive pressure and transition style-of-play, the Bobcats extended their lead to 26-points at the end of the third quarter which paved the way for a quick fourth quarter.
"We have been playing very well the last few games and it's good to be playing our best basketball towards the back end of the season," Lorenz said.
The fourth quarter remained even and the Bobcats went on their way to earn a third consecutive victory.
Kiara Donaldson (Milwaukee, WI) and Ashley Williams (Aurora, IL) led the way for the Lady Bobcats with 17 points a-piece.
Gabrielle Norwood (Milwaukee, WI) added 14 points off the bench and Jazlyn Drake (Milwaukee, WI) distributed 10 assists.
The Bobcats now move to 12-0 in region play with five games remaining in the regular season which includes two region contests.
The Lady Bobcats will travel to Ironwood, MI on Saturday for a rematch against Gogebic Community College. Earlier this season, the Bobcats defeated Gogebic 93-87 at home on December 9.
Tip-off will take place at 1:00pm.
