MILWAUKEE, WI (February 5, 2018) – The Bryant & Stratton College Lady Bobcats traveled up to Ironwood, MI on Saturday where they triumphed over Gogebic Community College 99-68 in a resounding win. The Lady Bobcats defeated the Samsons early in the year 93-87 on December 9.
Getting off to a slow start, the Bobcats trailed 31-28 at the end of the first quarter. Regrouping, the Bobcats switched up their game plan and put on full-court defensive press in hopes to pick up the pace of the game.
Throughout the second quarter, the Bobcats gained momentum as they caused turnovers and got out in transition.
"Not only did we start causing turnovers but we started crashing the boards to get some second chance opportunities," Lady Bobcats head coach Jeff Lorenz said.
Second chance points were a major factor in the game as the Bobcats were able to capture 13 second chance points to the Samsons eight.
At the break the Bobcats took the lead 51-45.
Carrying the momentum over from the second quarter, the Lady Bobcats continued to pile on the points in the third as well as hold the Samsons to just 11 third quarter points.
The Bobcats lead improved to 19 points and increased even more throughout the fourth as they outscored the Samsons 24-12.
"We had only beaten this team by six points earlier on in the year, so for us to play the way we did shows that we have been improving throughout the season," Lorenz said.
The Lady Bobcats improved to 19-7 overall on the season and remain 12-0 in region play.
Kiara Donaldson (Milwaukee, WI) led the way with 21 points on 52% shooting from the field followed by Ashley Williams (Aurora, IL) dropping 20 points and nine rebounds.
Ashley Quezaire (Milwaukee, WI) tacked on 15 points, JaTaviah Conley (Milwaukee, WI) added 13 points and Jazlyn Drake (Milwaukee, WI) dished out eight assists.
Up next for the Lady Bobcats is a road match-up against Lincoln College on Friday. The Bobcats have now won four games in-a-row and will hope to make it five straight at the conclusion of Friday's contest.
Tip-off will take place at 5:30pm.
