Bobcats Breeze by Lancers in Double-Digit Victory

WAUWATOSA, WI (December 11, 2018) - On Tuesday night, the Bryant & Stratton College women's basketball team traveled to Lake County, Illinois for a Region IV match-up where they breezed by the College of Lake County Lancers in a resounding 74-57 victory.
The win improved the Bobcats to 7-4 overall on the season.
Leading 51-37 midway through the third quarter, the Bobcats were clicking on all cylinders while the Lancers were searching for a solution.
"We were playing very well," Bobcats head coach Jeff Lorenz said. "I thought our transition game improved tremendously from last week and we did a great job of holding them down defensively."
Bryant & Stratton extended their lead to 17 (54-37) with five minutes left in the third after freshman guard, Kiyanna Rodgers, knocked down a deep three from the corner.
Despite a 9-4 run by the Lancers over the final minutes of the third, the Bobcats remained ahead 58-46 going into the fourth quarter.
To start the fourth, the Bobcats kept their foot on the gas as they extended their 12 point lead to 14 (63-49) after sophomore guard, Valerie Nzeakor, went coast to coast for an easy transition basket with five minutes left in the contest.
"We moved the ball very well offensively which kept them on their heels," Lorenz said.
After multiple possessions from both teams, it was sophomore forward, Ja'Taviah Conley, who put the nail in the coffin after knocking down a shot from long distance with two minutes left in the game putting the Bobcats up 70-53.
Freshman guard, Rodgers, led the way for the Bobcats producing a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards followed by freshman, Essence Rayford, with 15 points.
Taynique Hawthorne finished with 13 points on 5-7 shooting from the field.
Conley contributed nine points and eight boards followed by sophomore forward, Maddy McCoy, adding nine points and six rebounds.
The Bobcats shot 35% from the field and outrebounded the Lancers 52-41.

Bryant & Stratton College will be hosting the inaugural 2018 Women's Basketball Bobcat Classic this weekend on Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 15.
On Friday, Bryant & Stratton will take on Joliet Junior College for a region iv game at 5:00pm. Following the BSC vs Joliet game, the #13 ranked Kirkwood Community College Eagles will square off against the 5-5 Owen's Community College Express (Big E) at 7:00pm. Bobcat Classic Bracket
The classic will consist of high level basketball programs in Owen's Community College, Kirkwood Community College, Joliet Junior College and of course, the host of Bryant & Stratton College.
