BSC Women’s Volleyball Signs Four for 2018 Season

WAUWATOSA WI – (July 23, 2018) - The Bryant & Stratton College women's volleyball team inked four players for the inaugural 2018-2019 season, announced head coach Heather Curley on Wednesday, July 18. Evelis Vicenty (Puerto Rico), Gabriela Lopez (Puerto Rico), Hecsiris Hernandez (Puerto Rico), and Andrea Miranda (Puerto Rico) signed their National Letters of Intent to play for the Bobcats starting this fall.
Coming from the University of Puerto Rico High School, Vicenty a 5'8 setter, played club volleyball for ProZone.
"As a setter, Evelis will be the backbone of our offense. She has great hands and is capable of running an up-tempo offense. She distributes the ball well utilizing all of her hitters." head coach Curley said.
Lopez looks forward to her upcoming time as a student-athlete. "Ever since I was in ninth grade I have always wanted to play volleyball in college. Bryant & Stratton college gave me an opportunity to be able to play with them and grow as a professional."
The 5'5 outside hitter and defensive specialist played her prep career at Fountain Christian Bilingual and competed for ProZone in the offseason.
"Gabriela is a great all-around player. She passes, serves and hits. She is solid in every aspect of the game." said Curley.
Hernandez, a 5'2 defensive specialist and setter, hails from Elvira M Colon High School, and Las Pony's Santa Isabel club team.
"I am more than excited to be part of the Bryant & Stratton College volleyball team in which I will be able to show my skills as a libero or setter, improve and learn much more, both in the sports field and in academics."
"Hecsiris is a strong versatile player who will be utilized as a passer, hitter, and setter. She has taken great initiative during the recruiting process which shows her commitment to BSC." Curley said.
Out of Academia Santa, Miranda competedon the varisty program during the regular season and on the Nitrosas Naranjito club team in the offseason.
"Andrea has impeccable ball control and will provide great defensive balance on the court." Curley said of the 5'4 libero, "She is quick with really good court instincts. Anywhere the ball is going to go, she is going to get to it."
The Bobcats open their inaugural season on August 29 on the road at Highland Community College.
