High-caliber Thrower from WISCO joins the Bobcats!
The Bobcats Women's Track & Field team recently signed and welcomed to the team Ashanti Weeks (Milwaukee, WI) from Wisconsin Lutheran High School. Weeks, a discus and shotput thrower, will join the Bobcats after racking up multiple championship-caliber seasons over her time at Wisconsin Lutheran. Weeks will serve as a foundational piece of the growth of the Bobcats Track & Field program during the upcoming inaugural season.
Noting the importance of the signing, Director of Cross Country/Track & Field Casey Green said, "Ashanti is and incredibly important signing for us. Not only is she a unique talent and an incredibly hard worker, but she represents the start of what we hope to be a great Throws program at BSC. We couldn't ask for a better, more positive addition to our team to serve as a key part of our program's foundation."
During the recent signing at her school, Weeks was surrounded by teammates, family, and her head track coach, signaling her strength of character and positive role on her current team. With consistent improvements in performances in both shotput and discus over the course of her high school career, she's poised to continue to develop and score major team points for the Bobcats in 2021.
Commenting on the importance of her academics in the choice to join the Bobcats, Weeks said, "I chose Bryant & Stratton College because I know they are going to challenge me academically. Also, they'll allow me to get the hands on experience I need with my nursing degree."
The Bobcats Track & Field program begins practice in October 2020 with competition beginning officially in January 2021.
