Immense talent from South Africa to join Bobcats Cross Country/Track & Field
The Bobcats Men's Cross Country and Track & Field team is adding international talent to their already strong roster with the addition of Karabo Mothekhe (Mokopane, South Africa). Karabo joins the Bobcats after an exceptional prep career in South Africa competing at Hoerskool Piet Potgieter secondary school. A specialist at 800 meters, Mothekhe will compete for both the Bobcats Cross Country and Track & Field teams. His addition to the teams will make an immediate impact.
"Karabo and I have been in contact for over a year now as he was finishing up his prep career and making a decision about his next steps." Said Director of Cross Country/Track & Field Casey Green. "He's not only incredibly talented but he loves his sport, is a great teammate, extremely respectful, and has an unwavering work ethic. We couldn't be happier to have him become a Bobcat. He'll make an immediately positive impact on our team in our quest for another Regional Championship and National Championship berth."
Mothekhe intends to continue his incredible success from high school into his college career. As a multi time qualifier for the South African National Championship, he has had opportunities to compete at the highest high school level in his country for multiple years. Additionally, with two top-10 finishes in the 800 meter race at the South African National Championship, and a personal best time under 1:53, Mothekhe has the talent to develop into a National contender.
Commenting on his decision to choose Bryant & Stratton, Mothekhe said, "The reason why I choose BSC is because of Coach Green. When first texted me, from the get-go, he was keen on having me on his team and relentless, so I understood that he sees something in me and wants to help me. He's a great coach who treated me with respect. Plus, my favorite color is BLUE so you can imagine why I chose BSC! I would like to thank Coach Green and his team for giving me this opportunity."
Welcome to the Bobcats team Karabo Mothekhe! The Bobcats Cross Country team will begin their pre-season in August with competitions set to begin in early September.
