BSC women's Tennis team set record for team wins
BSC women's tennis team took home five region championships and scored 15 total points, just one behind the team champion McHenry. Despite a difficult situation and the disappointment of not being eligible for the team title. BSC battled to have the best day in team history. Desiree Ahlberg defended her championship at #1 singles to stay undefeated for her career and also took home the doubles title with Val Kukuruzuvic as they also stayed undefeated as a team. At #2 singles, Val also defended last year's title with a championship to keep pace with Desiree as undefeated for her career. Nikold Torres dominated her draw at #3 singles and took the title without dropping a set or a match all season. The #2 doubles team of Torres and Kyana Ramos was the most exciting action of the weekend as they earned two revenge wins against teams that had previously beaten them. In the championship they battled back from an 0-6, 0-1 deficit to upset the #1 seeded team at McHenry in a legendary 3rd set tiebreaker and took home our 5th championship of the tournament.
This years team set records for team wins as they finished 6-2 in dual meets and had three players go undefeated in singles without so much as dropping a single set. Desiree and Val finish their careers with incredible 36-0 records as Bobcats and have set the bar very high for future teams. Along with contributions from freshman Kennedy Campbell BSC have become a top team in region 4 and look forward to what comes next.
Desiree and Valentina will be headed to Mesa, Arizona next May to compete in the NJCAA National Tournament against the top players in the country.
