Bobcats take second game against Lancers
MILWAUKEE — The baseball team at Bryant & Stratton College finished off their doubleheader with the Lancers on Saturday afternoon and freshman Kolden Hunter took the mound for the Bobcats.
Holden made it through the first inning without giving up a run, but the Lncers answered with a 1-2-3 inning of their own. Both squads held each other at bay until the bottom of the fourth when Alex Esser reached on an error and a double by Jedvier Garcia brought him across the plate.
The Lancers answered with their own in the top of the fifth inning. Hunter was able to work through the benign with the game still tied but was relieved after five innings of work. During his appearance, he struck out four batters, walked two, and allowed three hits.
Bryant & Stratton came back to the plate looking to take back the lead, and Sean Reilly gave it hope with a leadoff triple in the bottom of the fifth. But a ground out and strikeout dampened the mood. Brogan Hicks and Esser were both hit by pitches and after a wild pitch, Reilly gave the Bobcats a one-run lead.
Brayden Thompson took over for Hunter in the sixth and recorded a 1-2-3 inning. The Bobcats didn't score in the home half, and Thopmosn was sent back out to end the game. He did so, allowing just one hit and striking out one batter while on the mound.
Bryant & Stratton will look to continue its winning streak on Tuesday when it travels to McHenry to take on the Warriors.
