WAUWATOSA, WI (March 27, 2019) - Having 21 days off of competition, the Bryant & Stratton College softball (4-14) team got back into action Tuesday afternoon as they dropped both games of the double header at Joliet Junior College.
The Bobcats suffered a 15-2 loss in game one and 9-5 loss in game two.
Game one vs Joliet Junior College (15-2 Loss)
Trailing 6-0 after the bottom of the first, Bryant & Stratton failed to get things going offensively and defensively as Joliet continued to tack on runs throughout the second, third and fourth.
The Bobcats trailed 15-0 heading into the top of the fifth before Brianna Zook (Fr.) and Kelly Schiller (Fr.) each brought in an RBI cutting the deficit to 15-2.
Despite the late runs in the top of the fifth, it was not enough to make a comeback as the Bobcats saw their 14th loss of the season come early.
Ashley Weimann (Fr.) led the way for the Bobcats going 3-3 at the plate followed by Zook with one hit and one RBI.
Starting pitcher Alyssa Hild threw 2.2 innings giving up nine earned runs.
Game two vs Joliet Junior College (9-5 Loss)
With the score tied a 1-1 a piece, Joliet managed to take a 2-1 leading in the bottom of the third.
A scoreless top of the fourth led to a strong producing bottom of the fourth for Joliet as they scored four runs to take a 6-1 lead.
Despite being down five runs, Bryant & Stratton's bats came alive in the top of fifth as they scored four runs cutting the lead to 6-5 but could not get over the hump in the final innings.
Brooke Masi (So.) led the way for the Bobcats with three hits and one RBI followed by Heather Anderson (So.) with two hits and one RBI.
Starting pitcher Mercedes Griesbach (Fr.) threw 3.2 innings with six earned runs.
