WAUWATOSA, WI (April 3, 2019) - Having won five consecutive games heading into Wednesday evening, the Bryant & Stratton College softball team (10-16) extended their streak to six after taking game one at Wisconsin Lutheran College 5-4 but followed that performance with an 8-7 loss in game two.
The Bobcats remain 1-1 in region play as they head into their next series.
Game one vs Wisconsin Lutheran College (5-4 win)
Back on the field after three days off, the bats were hot early for the Bobcats as they took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first after an RBI from Brooke Masi (So.), a single from Olivia Miller (Fr.) and an RBI from Melissa Biefeld (So.).
The Bobcats tacked on another run in the top of the second after Rachel Myland (Fr.) scored from third on a groundball to WLC's second baseman. The Bobcats scored their final run of the game in the top of the fifth after Samantha Flannery (Fr.) singled on a line drive to right field.
Despite the momentum on the Bobcats side, WLC managed to score three runs in the bottom of the fifth closing the gap to 5-3.
In the sixth and seventh inning, Bryant & Stratton failed to put any runs on the board while WLC managed to score one run in the bottom of the seventh to trail just 5-4.
With two outs and a runner in scoring position, WLC flew out to center fielder Myland and the Bobcats earned the win.
Miller finished the game with three hits followed by Masi with two hits and two RBI's.
On the mound, Kelly Schiller threw 4.1 innings with zero earned runs.
Game two vs Wiconsin Lutheran College (8-7 Loss)
The Bobcats opened up game two scoring two runs in the top of the first after Brianna Zook (Fr.) doubled on a line drive to left field bringing in two runs.
WLC saw their first lead of the game come in the bottom of the third as they took a 4-3 lead heading into the fourth.
In the top of the fourth, Bryant & Stratton managed to tie the game at 4-4 after an error by WLC.
A scoreless top of the fifth for the Bobcats led to WLC crossing the plate twice in the bottom of the inning taking a 6-4 advantage.
Bryant & Stratton earned those runs back in the top of the sixth scoring two of their own but could not hold down WLC defensively as they scored two in the bottom of the inning.
Trailing 8-6 with one last at bat, the Bobcats cut the deficit to 8-7 on a single from Amanda Zane (So.) to center field but that was not enough as WLC hung on to the victory.
The Bobcats totaled 10 hits on the game as Zook produced two hits and two RBI's followed by Ashley Weimann (Fr.) with two hits.
Mercedes Griesbach (Fr.) tossed five innings giving up four earned runs and striking out one.

Bryant & Stratton will not have any time off as they get back into action quickly Thursday afternoon with a double header at College of Lake County.
