GALESBURG, IL, (April 13, 2019) - Having eight-days off due to weather related issues, the Bryant & Stratton College softball team (10-18) traveled to Galesburg, IL on Friday where they suffered a series sweep to the Carl Sandburg College Chargers 11-2 in game one and 5-2 in game two.
The pair of losses drops the Bobcats to 1-3 overall in region play.
GAME ONE VS CARL SANDBURG COLLEGE (11-2 Loss)
Through the first four-innings, the Chargers jumped out to a 6-0 lead before the Bobcats eventually earned their only two runs of the game in the top of the fifth. Heather Anderson (So.) hit a solo shot to center field to give the Bobcats their first run of the game.
Later that innings, Brooke Masi (So.) brought in the second and final run of the game for the Bobcats on an RBI single up the middle.
Masi produced two hits and one RBI on the game while Anderson finished with one hit and one RBI.
Samantha Flannery (Fr.) had two hits in the contest.
Kelly Schiller (Fr.) threw 2.2 innings allowing four earned runs while striking out two.
GAME TWO VS CARL SANDBURG COLLEGE (5-2)
That bats were quiet early on in game two for Bryant & Stratton as Carl Sandburg jumped out to a 5-0 lead through five innings.
In the top of the sixth, Flannery doubled on a fly ball to center field to bring home the Bobcats first run of the game.
Trailing 5-1 in the top of the seventh, Anderson launched her second solo shot of the day giving the Bobcats their second run of the game.
Down 5-2 with zero outs, the Bobcats could not keep their momentum going as the Chargers maintained their 5-2 advantage to win the game.
Brianna Zook (Fr.) produced two hits while Anderson followed with one hit and one RBI.
Mercedes Griesbach (Fr.) threw five innings and gave up five earned runs.
