Bobcats Athletes, Donaldson, Williams and Pitts Earn Region IV Players of the Week
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (January 23, 2017) - Bryant & Stratton College is proud to announce that three women's basketball players have been recognized as Region IV Players of the Week. The team competed in two games this past week winning both by a significant margin.
This past Friday the Bobcats squared off at home against Gogebic Community College and defeated the Samsons, 97-77.
Bobcats guard, Kiara Donaldson dropped 40 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, point guard Kyla Pitts, scored 19 points and dished out 7 assists and forward Ashley Williams finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
The Bobcats defeated Loras College (NCAA Division III) 86-68 on Saturday, shooting over 40 percent from the field as a team.
Donaldson finished the game with 21 points and shot just shy of 50% from the field. Pitts dropped 21 points and captured 9 rebounds, while Williams led all scorers with 27 points and shot over 50% from the field.
All three athletes have been key components to the success of the team this season and over the past two games they all have averaged over 20 points per game.
Donaldson has averaged 30.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in two games this past week, Williams has averaged 20.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists and Pitts has averaged 20 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.
Bryant & Stratton women's basketball coach Jeff Lorenz is very proud of his athletes for earning this award.
"This is a first in my career that one school has three players honored as players of the week," Lorenz said.
This week also marks the third consecutive week that Donaldson has earned Region IV Player of the Week.
The Lady Bobcats currently stand at 13-8 with seven games remaining in the season. The next game will be this Saturday, January 28th at 1:00pm at Carl Sandburg College (11-6) in Galesburg, Ill.
