MILWAUKEE, Wis. (February 27, 2017) – Bryant & Stratton College is thrilled to announce that freshman guard Kiara Donaldson has been named NJCAA Region IV Division II District L Player of the Year and First Team All-Region. Freshman forward Ashley Williams has been named Second Team All-Region.
Donaldson and Wlliams were nightmares for opponents throughout the season and Head coach Jeff Lorenz could not be more proud of them and everything they have accomplished.
"These awards are a small representation as to who these two outstanding individuals are." Lorenz said.
Both athletes emerged quickly as stars in the region and were the key components for how well the program performed in its inaugural season.
Donaldson was the third leading scorer in the entire region averaging 24.5 points per game, marking her 1.2 ppg shy of the overall leader. Donaldson earned Region IV Player of the Week four times throughout the season.
Williams averaged 15.9 ppg and 9.9 rebounds per game just shy of averaging a double-double. Williams was named Region IV Player of the Week three times throughout the year.
Despite being known for their performance on the court, Williams and Donaldson are exceptional students as well.
"The recognition for the efforts and skills displayed on the court is one thing but both Kiara and Ashley have excelled in the classroom earning Deans List recognition." Lorenz said.
The Bobcats finished their season 17-10 and were the number two ranked team for all of Region IV Division II. They also finished as the number one ranked team in in Region IV District L which is a tremendous accomplishment for a first year program.
