MILWAUKEE, Wis. (November 1, 2017) – Bryant & Stratton College soccer would like to welcome Derica Ohms to the Bobcat family. Ohms marks as the first women's soccer recruit to sign with the Bobcats as the team prepares for the 2018 inaugural fall season.
From Eau Claire, WI, the four-year varsity player competed on the Eau Claire North High School team. As a junior, Ohms earned a BRC All-Conference Honorable Mention and played a significant role in her teams' success.
Known as a remarkable goalkeeper throughout the conference, Bobcats head coach, Lucas Henderson, is thrilled to have Ohms on board.
"I have worked with Derica in the past and it is very exciting to bring in a player that I trust to set the culture we are looking for from day one," Henderson said.
A talented all-around athlete, Ohms also plays on the basketball team at Eau Claire North High School.
The natural ability and work ethic that Ohms brings to the table is exactly what Henderson has been looking for this offseason.
"Derica is dedicated and a hard-working competitor on the field and a wonderful example of a student athlete," Henderson said.
Ohms will be enrolling in the Early Childhood Care and Development program and is extremely excited to be furthering her education at Bryant & Stratton College.
"I am excited to be a part of the new women's soccer program and taking the next step of my soccer journey," Ohms said. "I feel that this program is a great opportunity to enhance my skills with the help of Coach Henderson's experience. I fell in love with the welcoming atmosphere at Bryant & Stratton College immediately and can't wait to get started."
Ohms marks as a great signing for the Bobcats but Henderson will remain on the recruiting trail as he builds a competitive roster for the 2018 inaugural season.
