La'Janique Perry-Ellis has been named to the women's DII NJCAA Basketball 2019-20 All-American Second Team. Perry-Ellis led the Bryant & Stratton College – Wisconsin women's basketball program to a Region IV District L championship and the Lady Bobcats second National Tournament appearance.
Perry-Ellis, a freshman from Milwaukee Washington High School, led the team in several categories: points (18.1 ppg), assists (3.4 apg), and free-throw percentage (82.5%). She shot 54% from the field and 33% from three as well as averaging 6.6 rebounds per game. She scored a season-high 31 points in the final regular season game against Kankakee.
Perry-Ellis is the second All-American in Bryant & Stratton College's young history of athletics. Kiara Donaldson was a two-time All-American from 2016-18, also for women's basketball.
"Everything negative, pressure or challenges I use all as an opportunity for me to rise this past season," said Perry-Ellis in a reference to a quote from Kobe Bryant.
Perry-Ellis earned several awards this season. She was named NJCAA Region IV Division II District L Tournament MVP, finishing with 22 points and 10 rebounds in the championship win over Black Hawk, 65-59. She also was one of three Bobcats on the All-Region team.
"La'Janique is a special player," Lady Bobcats head coach Jeff Lorenz said. "She works extremely hard on and off the court to be the best player she can be. We are really looking forward to see what the future has in store for her. She is an absolute gym rat, a student of the game and this is well-deserved recognition for her."
The National Tournament was cancelled due to the Coronavirus. The Lady Bobcats were the 5th seed in the 16-team tournament.

"Being named to the All-American team is a major accomplishment for not only La'Janique, but to her teammates, coach Lorenz and the coaching staff," Bryant & Stratton College's Associate Athletic Director Ryan Ratajewski said. "This recognition represents all of the hard work, focus and dedication to the entire Bobcats women's basketball program."
