Bobcats Track and Field Begin Season Saturday
The Bryant & Stratton College track and field teams are set to begin competition this week, with the team traveling down to Carthage College for their season opener this Saturday.
On the men's side, the Bobcats are looking to build off of the success they have had the last few years. Three time All-American and the 2021 Outdoor NJCAA National Champion in the High Jump, Jaivon Harrison, returns for his final year. Harrison, along with several returners and first years/transfers on the team, should help the Bobcats continue to be nationally competitive. Coach Brian Lief, in his 4th season at Bryant & Stratton, is confident that the Bobcats will have several student-athletes in position to qualify for nationals. "I am excited to see what this team can do this year. We were able to add many talented student-athletes to the program, and I feel that this is shaping up to be our most competitive team yet" Lief stated.
On the women's side, there is a lot to look forward to as well. The Bobcats return three-time national qualifier KJ Morgan, a solid group of returners, and several newcomers looking to make an impact right away. "We have been able to add several talented student-athletes to the team, and the depth of the women's team should be the strongest in program history," said Lief.
With a meet schedule featuring competitions throughout the Midwest and in South Carolina, the Bobcats will have many opportunities to face high level competition across the country. Bryant & Stratton Track and Field schedules meets with NCAA Division I, II, and III schools, along with NAIA and NJCAA programs, to ensure the Bobcats face diverse and challenging competition.
The Bobcats will kick off their season at the Forever Red Alumni Classic at Carthage College on December 3rd. The NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will take place in Topeka, Kansas on March 3rd and 4th, while the Outdoor Championships will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, from May 18th to 20th.
