Georgetown, TX (March 15, 2019) - The Bryant & Stratton College baseball team (2-6) earned a remarkable win at Southwestern University on Thursday overcoming an eight-run deficit which led to a 16-12 win on the final day of their spring break trip.
The Bobcats scored fifteen runs in four innings while producing nine total hits.
Game vs Southwestern University (16-12 Win)
Trailing 9-1 in the top of the seventh, Bryant & Stratton got things rolling offensively after David Paleo (Fr.) scored from third on an fielding error by Southwestern's first baseman.
In the next at bat, Ryan Kalinowski (Fr.) doubled to right field bringing in the third run of the game for the Bobcats followed by Malik Hill (So.) who brought in one more run after doubling on a deep fly ball to right field.
With two on and two out, Jose Ortiz (Fr.) drove in the final three runs of the inning after reaching second base on an error by Southwestern's left fielder.
Down 12-7, Bryant & Stratton tacked on one run in the top of the eigth to make it a 12-8 score.
In the top of the ninth, Paleo stayed hot driving in the first run of the inning on a triple to left field.
Slowly coming back, the Bobcats produced three more runs to tie the game at 12-12 heading into the bottom of the ninth.
Holding on strong defensively, Bryant & Stratton shut Southwestern down in the ninth to force extra-innings.
The Bobcats scored two quick runs in the top of the inning after a few costly fielding errors from Southwestern and eventually came out of the inning up 16-12 before shutting the Pirates down in the bottom of the 10th.
Paleo led the way for the Bobcats with three hits, three runs and one RBI followed by Alec Spang (Fr.) wtih two hits, two runs and two RBI's.
Hill pulled through with one hit, one run and three RBI's.
Closing pitcher Kalinowski earned his first save of the season after tossing three innings and allowing just one hit and striking out three.
Bryant & Stratton closed out their trip at 2-4 and sit at 2-6 overall on the season.
